The aim of this article is to demonstrate that there was a relationship between the trajectory of a Masonic network and the definition of a regional political tendency and in spite of the scarce primary sources available it is possible, nonetheless, to examine the links between Masonic militancy and the formation of regional political groups throughout the nineteenth century. It is even more interesting the fact that masonry, in this case, rather than being a device for Liberalism’s struggle to play down the Catholic Church’s ancient public influence, turned out serving as a vehicle of the organic alliance between Liberalism and Catholicism.
